Feeling blah

It's going to be one of those weeks for me. I am just feeling sad and "down".

I had my appointment this morning. My follies are enormous - surprise, surprise. I just knew this would happen. The doctor came in the room and I asked if this was "normal". I honestly didn't really understand what he explained to me. (big, medical words...) But I basically got that it happens, it isn't "normal" but it happens, especially when I am being stimulated. The Dr. said that they suspect it happens in "normal" people, but since they don't get an ultrasound it goes un-noticed.

Anyway, so then he said that we would probably have to wait about a week or a week and half to make sure these follies go back down to "normal" (I am getting carried away with the quotes!). Know what that means? It means that I will go back and not be able to do anything because the Mr. will be out of town - and then I'll be out of town for Christmas. Sooooo I think I am out this month. :(

The Dr. did say that it is completely up to us, but if we wanted to go ahead and be more aggressive, he would be okay doing an IUI this next cycle. That is some good news. I am looking forward to the next step.

They will call this afternoon after they check my bloodwork, but I'm pretty sure they won't want to see me back for at least a week. In the meantime, I will try to cheer up.

  1. Sorry you are feeling down. It's so hard to do cycles around the holidays. I didn't realize big follies could go back down to "normal" size?? Haven't they been doing ultrasounds to measure?

At any rate, I hope you get to go through with this cycle. But if it doesn't happen, I hope and pray that you will enjoy the holidays and look forward to a brighter year!

  2. The follies that are big are the ones that I ovulated from (there is one that is huge and one that is a little smaller). This happens to me everytime I ovulate. Before I ovulate they measure about 18, and I trigger, then when I go back after the 2ww they just haven't gone down. From my understanding, the follies that produce eggs do get big - they are just supposed to go away faster than mine are. Most of the time my bloodwork shows that my levels are going back down to baseline, I just have to wait for the follies to shrink.

  3. I'm sorry you have to go through this. Is the trigger working correctly and making you ovulate if they aren't going back to their right size? I'm sorry your having to wait more, waiting stinks.

  4. What yucky news. So sorry. :( But at least it's given you a green light for taking the next step! Try to maximize the holidays with this TTC break. I think it's probably the best month for a forced break at least (trying to be positive here). Then you can start the new year with a new tool in your belt- IUI!!One thing to note is that with IUI, if the Mr. will be out of town but you won't at ov time, you can always freeze a sperm sample and then thaw it and use that for the IUI. It's not ideal, but it's possible. On my first IVF they had us do that just in case we 'weren't able to retrieve a sample' on the pressure of egg retrieval day- at least they had a back up. Anyway... that's it you want to do the IUI with the hubs there. I personally need mine around, but there are some ladies who do it that way when need be. It's not an 'optimal' cycle because the sperm isn't as great once frozen/thawed, but it's still a cycle. Just a thought.
GOOD LUCK and have a good holiday season!
